Fall is Here, It's Pumpkin time!

Since I'm a bit behind on posting any blogs, I thought I just post a photo journey of the last few weeks of Fall.

Photo Friday

Well, not too many pics this week, but a few different ones to check out.... Feeling quite tired today so, I'm short on words.

Jackson & Allison selling lemonade at the Garage Sale last weekend. (Yes, that is a loud speaker he was using. Very Funny!)

Brady & Great-Grandma Vivian reading some books.

The boys wanted to play on the slip n slide last Sunday. It was warm, but on the cooler side. They still enjoyed it.Guess that's what's great about being a kid, you just don't worry about that stuff.

Brady & His Blanket

Brady has always loved carrying around & sleeping with his blanket. Over the last few months he's gone thru these funny transistions of things he does with his blanket while starting to fall asleep. For awhile he would roll the blanket up into a ball and tuck it up under his chin and sleep with it there. Then for awhile he was scruching it up and stuffing it inside his pajama shirt. He would actually sleep the whole night sometimes with the blanket stuff in his shirt. His latest thing is to wrap it around his head like Mary from the bible. Very silly. It's strange what habits they come up with on their own.

Big Brother, Little Brother

I just had to put up some fun pics of the boys from this week....I guess you could say this is Photo Friday (even though I'm posting this Thursday evening). A few friends of mine do this on Fridays and I thought it was a great idea. Hopefully every Friday I will post a few pics from the week (we'll see how that goes). So far this blog has helped me get better about taking pics of everyday stuff, and that's a Good Thing!! I use to be really good and that, then I guess after the second kid, less photos get taken of regular everyday things. Anyway....I digress....on to photos.

They were having a great time painting together on a beautiful day - yay! cooler weather is coming.

This encapsulates Brady at soccer the last few games. He runs down the feild, looks over at us as we're cheering and has this huge grin on his face.

I can't believe this use to be Jackson's raincoat not that long ago.

This week Jackson has requested to read Brady his books for bed. This makes my heart so big & happy!

Dewberry Farm

We visited our favorite pumkin patch last Saturday and had a blast. They have so many fun things to do - feeding the goats, looking at the farm animals, playing in the hayloft, swinging on the sacks, jumping on the "air pillo" (that was really cool), riding mini tractors, a corn train, and Jackson's favorite - the corn maze. We took a hayride out to the pumpkin field, then when it was dark we rode out to the back of the farm and drove thru trees to see all these amazing pumpkin carvings. There were probably over a hundred grouped in to different topics like kids cartoon & movie figures, USA & presidents, Texas icons, etc. This was the first year they did this and I think it will be a new part of the tradition for us.

The Kitchen Pharmacy

Yes, this is our own personal pharmacy at home. It has recently been added to because, believe it or not after Brady had been on his antibiotics for 10 days for his sinus infection, he woke up yesterday with Pink Eye (passed on from preschool). So off to the doctors again. Our doctor said he was just shaking his head when he looked at his charts for the day and saw our name on the list. How sad is that! And on top of the pink eye, he found that Brady has an ear infection. Luckily for our budget he took pitty on us and gave us antibiotics and eye drops from the supply closet. Yeah! That was a blessing. Also, I've been feeling much better and alot less tired - which is also a blessing.

Only 4 Weeks Into School....and Illnesses Have Arrived

Yes, we made it thru a month of Elementary school and Preschool, and now the sickness have come home to the house. This is really crazy - I almost don't believe what has happened. At this point it's almost comical. I think I can drive to the doctor offices, to the pharmacy and back home all on auto pilot.

Where to begin....I'll try to keep it brief. Brady, Travis and I all had a cold about 2 weeks ago. Mine went away (or so I thought), Travis & Brady's turned into a nasty cough. We were waiting those out to see if they would go away. Meantime, last Sunday Jackson came down with Strep Throat (who even know what number this is for us this year?? the 7th time maybe). Anyway, he got antibiotics. Then Sunday night I start to feel sick and decide to join Travis at his doctor appointment to check on his cough. They gave Travis a breathing treatment and that seems to have helped his cough. Needless to say, neither of us had strep throat, however they determine I have mono!!! Mono!!! What the heck! I was just complaining last week that I was so tired and had to force myself to get stuff done. Wholly cow!! This is the part that cracks me up - there is nothing you can take, just rest. Yeah, right - just rest with 2 boys. Ha Ha.

On Tuesday, I took Brady into the doctor for the cough that wouldn't go away, and turns out he has a sinus infection. So more antibiotics to buy. Oh, and we get a note home from Brady's class that someone has pink eye, so be on the look out for that. LOL!

Then Wednesday Jackson comes home from school feeling tired and takes a big nap, then wakes up with a fever! So we make an appointment to see the doctor. But it gets even better, he woke up this morning with a swollen puffy eyelid. Turns out he has something called Pre-septal Cellulitis. Which is a baterial infection maybe caused by sinuses, who know. It can be serious, so now were on a new antibiotic that we have to take 3 times a day and it taste disgusting.

So, tomorrow is Friday, and I pray we are done with the week with no other illnesses. Please pray for Jackson to get better. Lysol antibacterial wipes here I come!!

**SideNote** - Travis also probably had mono earlier last month. That's where the doctor thinks I got it. He was feeling run down and stuff for awhile. Funny thing is, this is known as the kissing disease....so where did HE get it??? JK - you can also get it from sharing drinks. :)

Brady's 1st Soccer Game

The day has arrrived that our little guy can finally play soccer (yes, at 3yrs old). He has been waiting and watching his brother play and last Saturday he had his first game. And.....his first goal - yes, he scored a goal. I was so proud. I think I was jumping up and down cheering for him....and then realized I hope I didn't look like one of those crazy parents. :) We'll see how the season & years progress, but he seems naturally talented to play soccer (just like Dad!!)

All Grown Up

Well, our little guy is growing up. Today was his 1st day at Preschool (we sure have had alot of "1st's" lately). He was all ready to help pack his lunch and backpack this morning. When we arrived at his class, he sat down to the table and said, "bye mom" and went on playing with his toys. He's ready to be a big kid and go play.

When I picked him up he said he had a great day. He told me - "we did criss-cross applesauce for circle time and I sat on the yellow circle". He also said "I am very, very, very, very, very tired."

1st Day of Kindergarten

Today we sent Jackson off to Kindergarten. He was totally excited & ready. At the bus stop he was the first to get on. I think he was so excited to ride the bus, he forgot to give me kisses or say goodbye. Guess I'd rather have it that way than him clinging on me.

When the bus dropped him off at 4pm (normally 3:30pm) he was happy to see me and told me he missed me. They read the book the Gingerbread Baby in class and then found a note & crumbs left by the Gingerbread Boy. The series of notes led them on to the cafeteria, nurses room and school office. When they arrived back at their class, there were gingerbread cookies for each kid to enjoy.

One funny comment he said was - wow mom, we don't get home till dinnertime. :)

Our 1st ER visit

Yes, it has finally happened. We visited the ER last Friday (which I'm sure will not be the last time, but we can hope). Brady fell on a piece of a bookshelf I was in the middle of putting together. Of course I feel bad it was left out. He fell off backwards out of the chair and put a 2 inch gash into the side of the head. Needless to say it was a bit crazy. Luckily Travis' mom was there 5 minutes after it happened. So after 3 hours in the ER we came home with 3 staples in the side of his head. CRAZY!!

Crusin thru August

Well, time is flying thru August and we're well on our way towards school starting up. What have we been up to lately?
Natural Science Museum Visit - We had a great time going to the butterfly exhibit for the first time. Wow, it was beautiful. It made for some nice images for Trav to capture on video...and turn into a work project. :) The different colors of the butterfly's were so awesome.

Silly Boys - Guess the summer heat has got to us. After being in the pool enough, we've come up with some interesting ways to spend the day. One afternoon we put silly stickers all over ourselves. I had them on my toe nails for a few days. Here the boys had them all over. Also, just having some fun playing in the tub.

From here to there & there to here...

Funny things are Everywhere. (a line from one of our favorite Dr. Seuss books). Funny things kids have said, interesting things I've noticed:

-- After going 3 days without my coffeemate creamer for my coffee, I finally enjoyed a reall cup of coffee with creamer? My favorite - vanilla carmel.

-- has anyone ever loaded a PEZ dispenser as an adult? Is this candy really worth it. I mean the time it takes to get them in is probably longer than it takes for them to be consumed. Things you never know your parents do for you....I'm learning alot of these lately. And I'm so thankful for all my parents did for me.

-- Today Jackson asked Travis - "Dad, were you at my birthday party?" Hello - we paid for the thing, uhh, yea! We told him, Yes, of course we were there. There wouldn't have been a blow up waterslide & hot dogs if we were'nt there. :)

-- Ok - This one is strange. I decided on recomendation of a friend that we make Mint Chocolate Chip Milkshakes (like chick-fil-a), but cheaper. So today, I asked the kids, "Hey would you like a milkshake?" Jacksons response was: "don't you rememeber I don't like those!" And Brady tried it and then "Uh, no thanks". So instead of a nice yummy, cool & refreshing milkshake in the middle of summer, my kids asked for HOT COCOA!! Go figure!

-- And one final funny kids would only say item: Jackson was asking what our dinner was called. I told him Chicken Parmigana with melted cheese over sauce & chicken. His response "Oh just like Nachos". :)

Life is Good, God is Good, and Humor Feeds the Soul.

Naps are no longer cool, but sometimes life makes ya tired and you crash on the floor.

Brady is finally comfortable on his 4-wheeler he received for his birthday.

Avalanch Ranch VBS

Cowboy Brady

Jackson Rockin Out

Jackson has always been musical since day one, but WOW - he was really getting down this night. Some of that may have been contributed by his new Heeley shoes with wheels in them. He's still getting use to them.

Sweet Brady

Lately Brady has been telling us he loves us all on his own. He never really did this much before now. It's so sweet. And today was the first time I heard him tell his brother out of the blue - "I love you Jackson" very sweet.

Laying on the couch together watching Curious George.

My 1st Blog

Ok, so it's seems it's time for me to catch up to the "blogging" times. I had all intentions of starting a web page for our family when Jackson was born but that went by the wayside....so, six years later here I am. Hopefully I can keep this up to date and share happenings of the Reed household - the fun, beautiful, shining moments, and the crazy, frustrating, I'm going to pull my hair out moments.

More to come...
